Today's latest Source Engine update (30/09/10) has made any older versions of MANI MOD incompatible. However, the fix is very quick and very simple:

http://www.mani-admin-plugin.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=90&Itemid=73

Generate a new gametypes.txt and overwrite your old one in the orangebox/cfg/mani_admin_plugin/ folder.

As long as you are running the latest version of Mani on your server, this should fix all crashing-related issues.

Please refer to this thread on the official Mani website for further details: http://www.mani-admin-plugin.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=58&func=view&catid=8&id=87504

Customer Support / Re: Server Location Moves
« on: July 06, 2010, 02:09:40 AM »
hey, don't apologise for all those questions. i'm pretty sure plenty of people will have the the exact same ones.

in the gaming industry, server locations are divided geographically. GENERALLY speaking, if you want the 'best of both worlds' (ie, decent ping from both sides of the coast), then yes, chicago OR dallas are your best options. chicago, traditionally, has always been best for people who live in the north and east, while dallas tends to favour people for the west and south. this will explain why your california member pings better to dallas than to chicago (the fact that the northern ireland guy gets better ping to dallas is a bit of an anomaly, but routing is known to do strange things to ping). as far as i am aware, you cannot change your game server location in tcadmin.

if you haven't already, send a support ticket for this kind of move.

as for cores, they generally will not help in terms of ping/latency. however, a dedicated core will help with server performance dramatically.

i'm not sure about clan donations, so i'll let someone else field that one.

i hope this clarified a few things. if you still have questions, don't hesitate to ask.

i am 99% sure we will be. jestservers was big on arma2 the moment it came out, and we'll be following any expansions/sequels very closely.

Server Configuration / Re: How do I install a mod on my server?
« on: May 20, 2010, 04:07:59 PM »
yeah, if you get an ftp client, you can drag and drop folders much like you would in your windows explorer.

i suggest filezilla (free & powerful).

you can get it here:

http://filezilla-project.org/

i suggest not using the web-based uploader in tcaadmin -- as you can see, moving a lot of files is a bit of a hassle.

not sure about warband specifically (never played it). but every mod file should include installation instructions. generally speaking, you shouldn't overwrite ANY actual game files. mods are just addons, not replacements.

Server Configuration / Re: COD2 redirect
« on: May 14, 2010, 08:46:30 AM »
what do you mean by a redirect address? do you mean redirecting them automatically from your old server to the new jestserver? or do you mean like a subdomain redirect?

Customer Support / Re: Warband-Server Issue
« on: April 06, 2010, 04:18:19 PM »
I have my server mostly working properly but one issue.  After one map it auto-changes to DM everytime.  I want my server to run battle constantly(unless I say to change it) but after the time limit has been reached it auto changes to deathmatch.  How do I keep it on the same gametype, is there something I am doing wrong?

hey buddy. i don't have warband or have ever played it, but most server configs generally follow a pattern. take a look inside your sample.txt (or maybe the command line).

look for this line:

"set_mission  multiplayer_"

if it's changing to deathmatch every time, the line is probably:

"set_mission  multiplayer_tdm" or "set_mission  multiplayer_dm"

try changing it to:

"set_mission  multiplayer_bt" (i assume bt stands for battle).

other variables are:

cf - capture the flag
hq - headquarters/conquest
bt - battle
dm - deathmatch
fad - no idea
sg - no idea
tdm - team deathmatch

let us know if this works.

Pre-Sales Questions and Concerns / Re: Number of cores
« on: April 04, 2010, 04:01:52 PM »
Hello,
I've heard lots of really good things about Jest server and I'm really tempted to purchase a new 12slot private call of duty 4 server, but I would like to know the difference between a 4 Core Affinity and an 8 Core Affinity.

Thanks,
Cypress

the difference is literal: 4 cores = 1 cpu with 4 cores vs 8 cores = 2 cpu's with 4 cores.

however, if it's COD4 and under 32 slots, you will NOT see much (if any) in the way of server performance between a 4 core or 8 core setup (as long as the clockspeed is the same).
